The Cyclone boys’ cross country team finished runner-up in the Frontier League Meet on Thursday, the twelfth of October.

The team finished second with 58 points, behind De Soto by 6 points (De Soto scored 52 points) and in front of Baldwin by 7 points (Baldwin scored 62). In fourth was Spring Hill, with 117 points.

De Soto, a school in the 5A KSHSAA classification, will be leaving the Frontier League next year, while new members  Piper, Tonganoxie, and Bonner Springs will be joining the league in the 2018-19 school year. All three of these schools are in the 4A classification, as well as all of the other schools in the Frontier League with De Soto leaving.

At the meet, the Cyclone boys’ cross country team was led by senior Travis Lutz with a time of 17:36.94 and a 5th place finish. Lutz was followed by a pack of Cyclone runners, with Ryan Keiter, D’suan Gomez, and Allec Rodriguez finishing 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively.

On the girls side, sophomore Ainsley Curry finished ninth with a time of 21:34.18. Fellow sophomore Samantha Atchley finished 25th with a time of 23:06.34.

The Cyclones’ cross country team will compete next Saturday, the 21st, at the John Redmond Reservoir in Burlington, Kansas.
