The Review

Kara Lynch [adviser]

I’m Kara Lynch, the journalism adviser (yearbook, magazine, newspaper, website) and photography teacher at OHS. If a friend or colleague were to describe me, they would probably say that I’m curious and a good listener, and hopefully that I have a good sense of humor. Journalism is my first love for all the same reasons: it demands curiosity, mad listening skills and humor.

Claire Olmsted [editor]

Hey everybody! I’m Claire and this will be my third year in journalism at OHS and my second year working on the Review. In my free time I’m typically in the kitchen cooking or hanging out with my friends or family. This year I’m participating in girl’s golf and will be on the magazine and yearbook staff as an editor. One thing most people don’t know about me is that I really enjoy letting my mind be free and creative, and I’m constantly thinking about ways to improve a product through design and creativity. Coming into high school I had an interest in medicine and health sciences, but I was quickly changed by being involved in journalism. For me, journalism is a place where I can take any topic and make it into something that is interesting, both through words and graphics. I also plan to go into a career in strategic communications, or marketing, with a focus on social media marketing.

Riley Smith [reporter]

Hi! My name is Riley and i’m a junior this year. It is my first year being on the newspaper staff and I couldn’t be more excited. Some of my hobbies are singing, traveling, and taking naps with my cat.  I got into journalism last year when I took photography and I am looking forward to the rest of the year!

Shai Aho [reporter]

Hey! My name is Shai Aho and I am a junior at OHS. I am a part of the Girls Golf Team, the Softball Team, Student Council, Renaissance Core Committee, as well as many other clubs. In my free time, I love to sing, paint, and hangout with friends. Something most people don’t know about me is that I am very outgoing once you get to know me and I love talking to people. I chose to be in journalism because I love to talk to people and write their stories.

Jackie Montenegro [reporter]

Hey! I’m Jackie Montenegro, a sophomore at OHS. This is my first year on the newspaper staff and I am excited for more years to come. Most of the time you can catch me listening to indie music and painting in my free time. I went with journalism in hopes of one day becoming a journalist.

Bayley Clutter [reporter]

Hey! I’m Bayley and i’m a sophomore at OHS. This will be my first year being on the newspaper staff. I chose journalism because I can see myself being a journalist in the future. In my free time I enjoy being with my family or to read poem books. This will also be my second year on the track team!

Brady Pfizenmaier [reporter]

Hey, my name is Brady and I am a sophomore here at OHS. This will be my first year on the newspaper staff. I will be playing basketball this year and this will also be my second year on the team. In my free time I like to hangout with friends and I enjoy being outside. Being in journalism is rewarding because you have the opportunity to meet a lot of different people in the school.

Kade Carlson [reporter]

Hi, my name is Kade Carlson and I am a sophomore at Ottawa highschool. I play soccer year-round and play basketball in the winter. Some of my hobbies include playing sports with my friends, listening to music, and anything about shoes. Something most people don’t know about me is that I’m very loud and playful when I’m not at school. When I was a freshman, I wanted to take journalism because I loved writing, and here I am today.
